Telehealth Policy

Last Updated: December 2025

Overview

Solutions Counseling Group provides telehealth services through secure, HIPAA-compliant platforms. This policy summarizes expectations, rights, and responsibilities related to telehealth sessions.

Technology Requirements

Clients are responsible for:

·         Having reliable internet

·         Using a private, confidential space

·         Ensuring their device is updated and functional

If technological issues interrupt a session, we will attempt to reconnect. If we cannot reconnect, the session may be rescheduled.

Confidentiality

Telehealth sessions follow the same confidentiality standards as in-person services.

However, clients must ensure privacy on their end to protect confidentiality.

Licensure Limitations

Therapists can only provide clinical services in states where they are licensed.

By scheduling telehealth, clients confirm they are physically located in a qualifying state at the time of the session.

Emergencies

Telehealth is not appropriate for crisis situations.

Clients must provide:

·         A current physical location at the start of each session

·         An emergency contact

·         Acknowledgment that telehealth cannot be used for emergencies

Risks & Benefits

Telehealth may reduce barriers to access, but it has limitations, including potential technology failures and reduced non-verbal communication.

Clients accept these risks when choosing telehealth services.

Consent

By using our telehealth services, clients acknowledge that they have reviewed and understand this policy. Formal telehealth consent is completed within our clinical intake forms.
